CV and ATS guide for chartered accountants
Partners scan membership, years, and whether you have done statutory audit, tax, or management reporting. “Handled accounts” is not enough.
Common ATS gaps
- Ind AS / IFRS / GAAP on the JD while the CV only says “accounting standards.”
- CA qualification buried in a two-column sidebar.
- No client or industry noun when the JD is sector-specific (NBFC, manufacturing).
Keywords that only count with proof
Write ICAI or your membership, then Ind AS or IFRS only if filings or audits used them. Name the close, audit, or tax work in the bullet.
Common questions
- Do articleship months count as experience?
- Yes if you name the firm, dates, and the work. “Articleship” alone does not parse as a skill.
- Should I list every section of the CA final?
- No. List the qualification and the work you do now. Exam papers are not ATS keywords for an audit role.
