CV and ATS guide for civil engineers
They want structure vs site vs PMC, then a project they recognise, then software. Licensure (PE, chartered) if the JD asked.
Common ATS gaps
- JD named AutoCAD / STAAD / Revit while the CV only says “design software.”
- No project type (metro, residential, industrial) so search filters miss you.
- Codes (IS, ACI) listed as a block with no project that used them.
Keywords that only count with proof
Name the package and the project. Add a [X] for cost, duration, or safety only if you will fill it. Do not invent a tender value.
Common questions
- Should site and design sit on the same CV?
- Lead with the slice this JD wants. You can keep one other line for the second slice. A 50/50 mix reads as unfocused.
- Do I list every IS code?
- Only codes you used on a named project. Unused codes are treated as stuffing.
